Our favourite 3 drinks for late summer

As the UK weather plays its unpredictable game, we’re determined to make the most of every bit of summer that comes our way. Despite the seemingly endless gloomy days, the smallest hint of sun sends us rushing to the garden, drinks in hand, ready to soak up some rays. It’s all about making the most of the summer, and for us, that means having a selection of delightfully summery beverages at the ready.

Cranes Cider

For anyone who likes a fruity bottle of something, Cranes is perfect. There are some really beautiful flavour combinations on offer along side the traditional apple, as well as a low alcohol option. Our favourites are definitely the raspberries and pomegranates, and the blueberries and apples flavours – they really are perfect for a sunny day in the garden. Saying that, here at Roonee, we quite like the idea of drinking a few Cranes Ciders around an autumnal camp fire too! Head to the Cranes website to see the full range of flavours and explore the bundles on offer. We thoroughly recommend going for a gift set or a mix and match bundle so you can try a few different flavours.

Impressively, Cranes goes beyond crafting delicious drinks and their dedication to environmental sustainability caught our attention. On their website, you’ll find a commitment to becoming carbon neutral. Through planting over 1,200 trees worldwide, they’ve already eliminated around 69 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. This environmentally conscious approach resonates with us at Roonee, making Cranes Cider not just a delightful beverage choice but also a commendable brand for the eco-conscious consumer.

Cloudy lemonade from the Modern Milkman

You really can’t go wrong with a traditional cloudy lemonade, and we love that you can have it delivered to your doorstep along with your milk order from The Modern Milkman. While a cloudy lemonade is a total delight by itself in a glass with ice and a slice of lemon, The Modern Milkman have sent us a recipe to turn their cloudy lemonade into a more grown up summer tipple. We can’t wait to try it – take a look below and see what you think!

Cloudy Lemonade Spritz

Ingredients:

  • ½ pint cloudy lemonade
  • 50ml of high-quality vodka or gin (depending on drinker’s preference)
  • Two cups of ice
  • Lemon slice and fresh mint to garnish

Now get mixing:

  1. Begin by adding the ice cubes to a blender.
  2. Gently pour in half a bottle of zesty cloudy lemonade.
  3. Now add 50ml (two shots) of vodka into the mix.
  4. Blend the concoction until it reaches a smooth consistency and pour into your chosen glass – this summery treat works well in any shape!
  5. Garnish with a vibrant slice of lemon and aromatic mint leaves.

Assay Strawberry Jam & Black Pepper Vodka

Any mixologist, be they amateur or expert, can make a wonderful tipple with Sheffield Distillery’s Assay Strawberry Jam & Black Pepper Vodka. We tend to buy ours via Locio (who give back to Yorkshire charities) and you can see a few different vodka flavours from Sheffield Distillery on the site, but this is our top pick. Simply top up a glass with tonic, soda, or lemonade for a super simple summer drink, or get inventive and see what else you can add to make something stunning to sip.

We added raspberry puree, grenadine, and the vodka to a shaker with ice. Then we poured the whole lot into a tall glass and topped with soda water and garnished with a strawberry. We think anything strawberry based is a good bet for creating a drink that’s going to give off summer vibes, so you really can’t go wrong by using this particular vodka as a base. Grab a bottle and see what you can come up with!
