Sheffield is South Yorkshire’s capital, and it’s a thriving foodie city – there are plenty of great vegan eateries in Sheffield. Whatever your dietary preferences are, there are some wonderful places to indulge in all of your favourite foods. Here are three Roonee favourites:
Humpit
Humpit is the place to go for all of your hummus, falafel, and pitta needs. Humpit is just a two minute walk from Sheffield’s iconic Peace Gardens, making it wonderfully central. Either sit in and watch the world go by, or grab your totally vegan order to-go and have yourself a makeshift picnic in the Winter Gardens, or outside the City Hall.
The main attraction at Humpit is the filled pita. Choose from a range of fillings, starting at just £5.50. Alternatively, try a hummus or salad bowl, personalised to your liking with all of your favourite toppings. There are usually snack pots on the menu if you’re after a lighter bite. These vegan friendly delights include roast cauliflower with tahina sauce, falafel balls, mixed salad, mixed pickles, and hummus pots.
If you want to find out more about the amazing vegan food on offer at Humpit in Sheffield, take to Instagram and give @humpithummus a follow. If you’re ever in Leeds, keep an eye out for a Humpit store, as there are a further two stores in Humpit’s first home of Leeds!
V or V
Head out of town to find chic vegan brunch spot – V or V. V or V describes itself as Sheffield’s first plant based licensed evening restaurant and offers divine seasonal menus. Not only are the menus here full of wonderful plant based options, the drinks on offer are also vegan friendly.
Menus are seasonal, but there are some sample menus available to view on the restaurant website. Undoubtedly, one of the biggest draws is the offer of a fully vegan bottomless brunch for just £30 per person. Food options can include dishes such as wild Peak District mushrooms on toasted rye, fried coriander cornbread, and house slow smoked beans on sourdough cornbread. The choice of accompanying bottomless drinks includes Prosecco, Fresh Fruit Bellinis, House Wine, Peroni, and Ale.
Church – Temple of Fun
Fancy something a little more trendy? Church is situated just seven minutes by car from the city centre and offers a primarily vegan menu, focusing on burgers and loaded fries (with a few options for your fussy friends). Patrons can choose between a B12, Beyond Burger or Fried Chicken Fillet. Load up on nachos or a variety of loaded fries. Not feeling quite full? Church’s sumptuous dessert menu offers a range of what they call ‘Sinful Sundaes’.
Church – Temple of Fun is also a live venue and trendy retro arcade for the gamers in your social circle. Playstation pods and retro arcade machines give you a reason to stick around long enough for their kitchens to close at 9pm. The website is regularly updated with upcoming events in the Church events space.
